With each product, you are offered the ideal complement of vitamins, minerals, and fiber for post surgical nutrition. These new Post Bariatric Surgery Products have undergone extensive periodical reviews and medical interviews to ensure that the appropriate nutritional needs of post bariatric patients are satisfied. These breakthrough supplements have been specially designed to be prepared as a 2, 3 or 4 ounce portion size for use in various stages of post bariatric care. To ensure prevention of nutritional complications following surgery, these BariCare products provide 20 grams of high-quality protein, and are an excellent source of iron, calcium, vitamin B12 and vitamin D, in addition to other important vitamins and minerals.

To create the most nutritionally appropriate products, BariCare interviewed multiple groups of medical professionals specializing in bariatric nutrition.  The performed extensive periodical reviews of current nutrition research in bariatrics, and attended industry workshops on nutrition for the bariatric patient.  They found that post surgical patients most frequently experienced deficiencies in iron, vitamin B12,  and vitamin D.  Therefore, BariCare products have been specially formulated to provide an excellent source of each of these essential vitamins and minerals in addition to other important nutrients.

PROTEIN: As the most important nutrient in the post bariatric surgery diet, BariCare delivers a proportionally high amount (20grams) of protein, primarily whey protein isolates, which are an excellent and complete protein source.  This is the target protein level according to ASMBS literature, which recommends limiting consumption to 20 grams of protein per serving.

IRON: Patients generally are not able to consume enough iron through diet alone, and deficiency may occur even with the use of a daily multivitamin.  BariCare provides 35% of the daily recommended intake for iron, helping post surgical patients get this essential mineral.

CALCIUM: BariCare provides only 10% calcium, because when paired with iron at highest levels, the two minerals compete for absorption.  Separate calcium supplementation is standard during post bariatric surgery care to ensure patients receive the daily recommended intake.

VITAMIN B-12: A deficiency in vitamin B-12 can lead to macrocytic anemia, which makes it difficult for the blood to transport oxygen.  Moreover, since vitamin B-12 is poorly absorbed when obtained through pill form, and high doses are required when taken orally, BariCare has formulated these supplements with 345 micrograms, which is 5,000% of the daily recommended intake.  (There is no known toxicity or U.S. upper limit of this vitamin).

VITAMIN D: Deficiency in vitamin D has been reported in not only post bariatric surgical patients, but also in people with a BMI >30.  The need for vitamin D increases as people age, and is not found in a high number of foods.  The BariCare products deliver 100% of the daily recommended intake.

FIBER: It is difficult for post surgical patients to meet their daily fiber needs because of their limited consumption of food, particularly high-fiber sources such as fruits, vegetables and whole grains.  BariCare products contain 2 grams of soluble fiber per serving, which helps meet your daily fiber needs and promote a healthy digestive tract.
